I am of a divided mind regarding the public presentation of atheism as entertainment. Religion is a 21st century instrument of universal human genocide. It needs to be soberly, vehemently, and seriously beheaded. Making fun of religion trivializes its horror, reduces atheism to just another form of entertainment for the god-addicted masses, instead of at least trying to inspire others to rise up and destroy the insane god myth.
Still, Tim Minchin’s uniquely styled “Thank You God” does a nice job of both entertaining and delivering devastating body blows to the absurd mythology of the god creature. It starts out slow, but give it a chance.
In case the context is unclear, Tim wrote this song in response to a christian god freak who tried to convince him god cured his mother of cataracts.
